Students are charged tuition on a per-unit basis, and the current rate of tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year is $2,201 per unit for MAT online and MAT-TESOL online, and $2,244 per unit for OCL Online and SC Online. Total tuition costs will vary depending on a student’s program track.

Tuition and fees typically increase by 3 percent to 5 percent each year. Tuition rates are set by the USC Board of Trustees and typically increase in the fall term. The most current rates can be found here.

Tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year is $2,201 per unit for MAT online and MAT-TESOL online, and $2,244 per unit for OCL Online and SC Online.

MAT online: $2,201 x 10 units = $22,010

MAT-TESOL online:

SC online:
$2,244 x 11 units = $24,684

OCL online Advanced Standing:

Mandatory Fees

  • Orientation, new student fee, graduate: $55 (one-time charge)
  • Graduate student programming fee: $20 per semester
  • Norman H. Topping student aid fund: $8 per semester

Additional Fees

  • A $250 nonrefundable deposit to confirm your enrollment. The deposit will be credited to tuition owed.
  • Up to $3,000 for books, supplies, Internet connectivity and other expenses.
  • MAT / MAT-TESOL online: Credentialing exam fees, which cost about $300.  (Pursuing a credential is optional for MAT–TESOL students. To learn more about credentialing requirements, please visit our MAT-TESOL Admission page.)
  • OCL online: Two $550 required on-campus immersions (travel and hotel fees not included).

If you are an international student studying in your home country or in the United States on a non-immigrant student visa, you are not eligible for need-based federal student aid programs. You may be eligible to seek employer assistance or scholarship opportunities in your home country.
