Teacher Certification by State
USC Rossier is committed to supporting all of our students as they become highly qualified, credentialed educators — no matter where they live or wish to pursue their teaching careers. Our Master of Arts in Teaching online (MAT online) and Master of Arts in Teaching – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages online (MAT – TESOL online) with credential programs offer the same academically rigorous curriculum as our on-campus programs, including hands-on student teaching.
To apply to the USC Rossier MAT online with credential, you must register or submit passing scores for a California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) subtest.
Upon program completion, you will be prepared to earn your teaching credential in California. You may also be eligible to obtain your teaching credential in other states. Credentialing requirements differ from state to state, and most state licensing boards require a degree, testing and potentially additional post-graduate coursework.
Licensure requirements vary from state to state. We encourage each student to research and understand the specific requirements for licensure for their state of residence or practice. To determine whether the USC Rossier Master of Arts in Teaching online program meets state specific licensure requirements, see MAT Multiple Subjects and MAT Single Subject.
